On March 30 and 31, 2016 IADB’s 4th American Business Dialogue promoted by the Interamerican Development Bank (IADB) took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, sponsored by the Ministerio de la Producción of the host country.

As mentioned by IADB the goal of the meeting was aimed at entering into a public-private discussion to encourage countries from the region to ratify the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement as well as to assist on its suitable and effective implementation. Thus, the meeting led to the exchange of experiences and best practices between the public and private sectors with the purpose of achieving a more dynamic and safer trade and an effective facilitation by reducing transaction costs and time at the border as well as the provision of predictability in a transparent and confident environment.

IPFCOM was invited by the organizers to address a presentation on the critical aspects and good practices of the Pre Arrival Processing of goods, contained in the study commissioned to the consultant company Nathan Associates Inc. and presented at the APEC Alliance for Supply Chain Connectivity (A2C2) On February 2016.

The presentation gave rise to a broad discussion about the benefits of the pre-arrival declaration and its contribution to the management of risks for a better control at the border.

The word "facilitate" means making simpler or more simple, and this is precisely the objective of trade facilitation - making processes and procedures of international trade as simple and efficient as possible for traders, authorities and governments.
